Microsoft Surface is a series of Windows-based personal computing devices designed and manufactured by Microsoft and comes with Window. It is a hybrid, 2-in-1 detachable tablet with an interactive whiteboard. The latest version is the Surface Pro 4 released last year. The Surface tablet also comes with an keyboard accessory which comes in different colors and has a proper backlit keyboard. I am running Windows 10 on a Microsoft Surface Pro. It came with a detachable keyboard that I use explicitly. Just recently the functions of my keyboard changed and I don't know how. For example, pressing a key and holding it down used to repeat the key. Now is only types the letter/symbol once and stops.
The Surface Book keyboard features a standard layout with cool backlit keys, but did you know you can also control the screen brightness with a keyboard shortcut as well as adjust the keyboard backlighting? It's quite easy to do so!
Keyboard Settings For Surface Pro
There are two keys located on the keyboard that allow you to decrease or increase the keyboard backlighting. Located at the F1 and F2 keys, these two keys allow you to control your keyboard backlighting. For those of you who prefer to not have any backlit keys, you can simply decrease the lighting until it's gone.
- Choose Ease of Access Keyboard Settings. Under the Useful Keys section (at the bottom) make sure Sticky Keys and Filter Keys are both set to Off. Clean the Keyboard Connections: This one is often overlooked. Your keyboard connects to your Surface via a series of six brass colored contacts at the bottom of the tablet.
- If you connect with a non-Microsoft Bluetooth transceiver, some advanced Mouse and Keyboard Center features may not work. Mouse and Keyboard Center is designed to work with the Microsoft Bluetooth software. Toshiba Bluetooth software is known to work in most cases. Other Bluetooth software might work but is not supported.
Surface Touch Keyboard Settings
With the keyboard, you can also adjust your screen brightness to your optimal levels. To increase screen brightness via the keyboard, simply press Fn + Del. If you want to decrease screen brightness, simply press Fn + Backspace.
